ZGM wants your exceptional communication skills! We are looking for an HR Manager to provide generalist services for our Calgary and Edmonton offices, totalling over 80 team members. Reporting to the COO, but interacting with every person, you will provide HR support to the partners and internal stakeholders of ZGM, overseeing employee relations, recruitment, talent retention, professional development, benefits administration, onboarding, performance management, and culture management.  And while you're doing all that, you'll never forget that you're here to support ZGM's most valuable asset, our people. 

Occasional travel to Edmonton office required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide general HR guidance and support to partners, management and employees in our Calgary and Edmonton offices, as required
  • Work with partners to develop and execute an HR strategy based on established goals and objectives to attract and retain talent
  • Maintain and keep current all employee records, manual and electronic, to ensure employment standards are met
  • Full cycle recruiting from sourcing, pre-screening, reference checks and on-boarding
  • Prepare team member contracts and job descriptions
  • Professional development and performance management
  • Administer Canada/Alberta Job Grant when applicable
  • Manage terminations and exit interviews
  • Assist team members and managers with conflict resolution/difficult conversations
  • Ensure our workplace is safe, inclusive and harassment free
  • Update and maintain employee handbook and company policies and procedures
  • Identify and address issues that impact morale, engagement, turnover, absenteeism and productivity
  • Foster and maintain a positive culture

Soft Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a diverse HR Generalist role
  • Strong knowledge of AB Employment Standards, AB Human Rights and OHS
  • Self-motivated, energetic team-player with ability to work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of all relevant trends, and legislation affecting human resources issues
  • Ability to build relationships on all levels of the organization
  • Approachable, friendly and supportive
