Website Designer

Product Design · Calgary, Alberta
Department Product Design
Employment Type Full time
Minimum Experience Mid-level

We’re looking for a website designer to join our team in our Calgary office. As a web designer, your role will be to combine strategic insight, creative problem-solving, and technological innovation into functional and stunning interfaces across all web, mobile, and other digital channels. You are a collaborative team player who’s not only detail-oriented but can also zoom out to see how everything connects across the broader customer experience. You can pick up a project and run with it, working alongside PM’s, strategists, developers, content writers, and other designers to create ground-breaking work. Your design balances form and function, and you ensure it is as useable as it is beautiful. You are comfortable explaining your work to peers and clients alike and can clearly communicate the rationale behind your decisions. If this describes you to a tee... go ahead and smash that apply button!

What we’d like to see…

  • 3+ years of experience working as an interactive designer in a creative agency setting
  • A portfolio that not only showcases your visual design chops but also communicates how you helped solve the user or business problem.
  • Ability to think beyond the immediate output to how your work achieves a desired outcome.
  • Familiar with conducting or interpreting user research.
  • Experience producing UX artifacts such as customer journey maps and job stories to visualize and communicate user needs and goals.
  • As at home in information architecture as you are in high-fidelity motion prototypes
  • Knowledgeable about accessibility and WCAG standards
  • Stellar communication skills–the ability to articulate your design solutions to clients and team members using a mixture of data and storytelling.
  • Highly collaborative with developers and project managers to ensure the product vision is fully implemented to the highest standard.
  • A background in coding isn’t necessary, but a general understanding of how your design will get implemented in code definitely is.
  • A whiz with Figma, Principle, Framer, Webflow or whatever design/prototyping tool you’re particularly jazzed about at the moment.
